Account Executive
The Account Executive is responsible for generating revenue for WQED Multimedia by developing and furthering relationships with clients to insure continued support for the organization's broadcast products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and present proposals to meet pre-determined needs of client for presentations.
- Write contract request forms and deliver to Sales Administrative Assistant.
- Develop schedule of announcements and deliver to FM and Production Assistant for traffic placement.
- Write announcements for client approval and deliver to FM traffic person and/or Production Assistant along with video components.
- Develop promotional and/or underwriting ideas for clients.
- Collect payment from clients.
- Generate new business through targeting prospects.
- Maintain up-to-date information of broadcast businesses as well as client business.
- Develop a list of targeted media and matching prospect's needs with WQED program/strategies.
- Contact prospective client – pre-determine needs and set up appointments.
- Volunteer for station events and perform other company projects as needed.
Candidate must have a working knowledge of sales techniques and broadcast industry sales along with excellent customer service skills. An Associate's Degree or equivalent experience is required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. One year of sales and marketing experience, preferably in the broadcast industry, is required.

Manager of Distribution and Client Services
The Manager of Distribution and Client Services is responsible for marketing and selling content/product in all markets and territories. Developing and maintaining operations and good financial management to support the sales.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Market & sell content/product to distributors, retailers, consumers and PBS stations in all markets and territories with a focus on increasing revenue and creating a Positive cash flow.
- Develop and/or acquire new product.
- Work with staff to develop & implement a marketing & distribution plan for all products.
- Market Pittsburgh videos and Shop WQED merchandise via WQED Multi-Media outlets (web, TV, radio, magazine), catalogs, product inserts, etc.
- Develop new product packaging.
- Improve and update Shop WQED website and Intranet sites.
- Work with Station Relations Mgr. to provide accurate and timely premium information to stations.
- Develop and retain good, strong relationships with distributors, retailers, consumers and PBS Stations.
- Develop and retain good, strong relationships with vendors.
- Seek new marketing and distribution outlets.
- Negotiate deal points and administer contracts.
- Provide knowledge and support to department staff in licensing content & product in all markets and territories.
- Assist in the negotiations of new license agreements and/or renewal of expiring licenses.
- Create contract synopsis and administer tickler system for timely reporting and payment of WQED's revenue share obligations and for timely receipt of reports and payments of revenue share due WQED.
- Accurately prepare royalty and revenue sharing reports on product distribution to funders, artists, etc, quarterly, semi-annually and annually.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date revenue and unit sales for revenue share accounting purposes.
- Supervise the liability accruals, calculate and process reversals for all relating to distribution.
- Cost control through good financial management with a focus on a preparation of realistic budgets, diligent cost monitoring, operating efficiencies and accountability.
- Monthly review of financials for accurate monitoring and perform journal entries as required.
- Approve all AP and AR batches for facility rentals or sales orders.
- Oversee operations of order processing, fulfillment, dissemination of information, invoicing, collections, etc.
- Develop and maintain product fact sheets, pricing and pricing sheets, customer lists, and other operations and financial records.
- Manage customer service rep to insure prompt processing fulfillment of all orders through Shop WQED or station premium orders.
- Oversee Client Services Manager to ensure all financials are accurate and completed in a timely fashion.
- Prepare all monthly invoices for tower tenants rent and electricity.
- Oversee inventory control to ensure accurate levels.
- Work with Distribution Administrator, in-house producers and design to create DVDs according to guideline and agreements.
- Work with manufacturers to ensure a correct product is created and delivered in a timely matter.
- Create timelines and manage projects from start to finish.
- Oversee the set up new product in Great Plains processing system.
- Supervise the preparation quotes as need for internal use for product creation.
Required education and skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience required
- 3-5 years Product Development, Packaging, and Marketing experience required
- Must have some Accounting and Financial background
- This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, written communication, analytical, and customer service skills.
- This position requires computer knowledge of Excel, Word and database experience.

Managing Director of WQED-FM

The purpose of this position is to supervise radio staff and facilities. Develop plan for station growth, programming and technical operation. Generate revenue through on air fundraising, assist with sales and membership staff in generating revenue. Represent WQED to community clients, oversee budget, and correspond with the audience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Establish staff and station priorities and distribute workload. Discuss priorities and projects with staff.
- Promote teamwork within radio and WQED. Encourage participation by radio staff in all WQED events and fundraising activity.
- Review audience and industry trends. Seek cross-platform, multimedia opportunities for growth and development. Examine technical needs and evaluate technical operation.
- Attend and participate in department meetings to share information throughout all WQED departments.
- Create a vibrant in-studio experience at both Oakland and Cultural District locations.
- Sign off responsibility on all purchase orders, timesheets, petty cash, personnel charge-back orders, part-time personnel, vacation requests and independent contractors. Consult with unit manager, controller and accounting staff to ensure cost control on all projects and department financial activity. Evaluate monthly cost control statements.
- Participate in organizational and departmental strategic planning. Evaluate training needs. Work with HR to hire consultants and trainers as needed. Discuss strategic plan at staff meetings. Evaluate consistency of appeal of on air product. Consult with programming & production manager to select and schedule programs, make adjustments to schedule to increase audience, meet regularly with promotions department to plan and evaluate promotion strategy. Monthly meeting with VP of Content. Attend scheduled meetings with department heads to share information.
- Identify opportunities for audience growth and changes required by local and national market conditions.
- Prepare grant proposals and perform other company projects as needed.
- Work with membership staff to write first draft or edit fundraising letters. Correspond with donors by phone and mail as well as meetings at community events and concerts and all WQED fundraising events and promotions.
- Assist sales staff on calls to major clients including Pittsburgh Symphony generating over $100,000 each year. Work with sales staff to prepare materials, reports and correspond with clients directly.
- Participate as on-air talent during fundraising drives.
- Represent WQED FM as a cultural partner and seek opportunities for collaboration. Create an environment of cultural support within the framework of WQED FM where there are mutually beneficial opportunities. Where appropriate, work to translate the cooperative spirit into funding potential.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
- Prepare and present reports for WQED Board. Attend board meetings of community organizations as well as WQED partners.
- Serve as podium master of ceremonies when needed at various WQED events, community events and fundraisers.
- Present activity reports to WQED staff and board members at annual meetings. Represent WQED Pittsburgh at national conferences as budgeted.
Required education and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast/Communications/Programming or equivalent TV/Radio work experience required.
- 5 to 10 years broadcast or programming experience required.
- Knowledge of Classical Music, programming techniques, excellent communication skills and supervising skills are necessary.
